Before you plan on the moving and relocation, you will have to plan out on how to co-ordinate and have an organised relocation without messing up anything. Most of us overlook on having an organised move and carry on the moving process in a haphazard way.
  • If you are a single or having a family, it is very essential for you to think about an organised moving procedure to have peaceful moves without any stress or strain. It is advisable that you organise and plan everything well in advance to avoid any chaos. Here are some guides to make your moving home process an easier one.

Things to be done two months before the home relocation
  • Make a list of all the things to be done: The first step to make your moving an organised one is to make a list of all the things which should be packed, thrown or donated from each room. Write down all the areas of the home to be concentrated on and how to go about it. Apart from writing down in a notebook, you can also make points on your computer or your phone. This would save you a lot of time and energy.
  • Sort out all the things and eliminate: To avoid carrying extra useless objects to your new home, it is very important that you sort out all the things and either dispose them or donate them. In case, if you have excess furniture and appliances you can also sell them away. Follow this procedure in every room of your home. Plan on how to pack delicate objects like the electrical gadgets and other glassware. To pack clothes, you can make bundles or stuff it in cardboard boxes. The kitchen ware can also be packed in cardboard cartons.
  • Create a binder: Creating a binder will help you in an easy moving by maintaining all the bills, receipts and the count of useful items. This will also help you in post moving. Organise all the school records, job records and other important documents and keep them in a safe place which can be remembered by you later.
Things to be done a month before the home relocation

  • Get hold of important supplies: The most important things which will be used while packing your stuff are the carton boxes, tapes, wrapping papers, newspapers and plastics. If you do not have enough of cartons, you can always borrow it from your neighbour. Stick specific coloured stickers on fragile and other important objects once when they are packed. Ensure that you stick each and every package with stickers to avoid confusion. If it is difficult for you to find the supplies, you can order them from a store as well.
  • Clean and organise all the closets and de-clutter every room of your home. Do not leave any spare objects in the attic or store room. It is always better that you either dispose them away or donate them if you do not need them. If you do not want to donate or dispose your stuff, you can organise a sale and sell the objects.
  • Take the measurements: Make a trip to your new home and take measurements and decide on where to place the furniture and other gadgets.
  • Do a research on the movers and packers services: Talk about your plans and the requirements you need in a packers and movers service agency to your acquaintances. Do an online research and read the reviews of the packing service agencies. This will give you an idea about whom to choose.
  • Meet the relocation services people in person and explain them what you are actually looking for and get an estimate in writing from the company. Also get a list of services along with the list of prices from various companies.

Things to be done few weeks before the home relocation
  • Once you have decided on whom to hire, you should place the order well in advance. Also instruct them which object has to be kept where in order to avoid any damage.
  • Start packing all the things in your home. You can also get the number of services from the movers & packers. Ensure that you pack all the delicate items in particular boxes and tag them accordingly. Make sure that you get expensive items insured.
  • Separate packing: Not all the valuables can be packed and sent in a movers van. It is important that you pack precious items like jewellery and others in separate boxes and take them to your new home personally.
  • Contact people who cater services to you regularly and take down their details and visiting cards. Also do not forget to cancel all the services.
  • Change of address: You can approach the nearest local post office and fill in the change of address form or do it online. Inform your neighbour about the change of address and ask them to receive the letters in your absence.
